Territory Alignment

How accounts and HCPs get divided across a field force's districts and individual rep territories.

Territory Alignment is how a field force's accounts and HCPs get divided across its districts and individual rep territories, usually weighted by potential (prescribing volume, patient population, specialist density) rather than geography alone. It's redrawn periodically, most heavily around a major product launch or a field force resizing, since both events change what a workable territory even looks like.

Alignment quality shows up downstream in metrics that look unrelated at first glance. A rep handed a poorly aligned territory, too sparse, too dense, or mismatched to where the target HCPs actually sit, will post weak Call Plan Adherence numbers no matter how good they are at the job, because the plan itself was built on a bad map. Sales operations teams usually check alignment first when a whole district underperforms, not just one rep.
